About Toroid
Toroid Studio, by 3D and game artist Daon, is dedicated to crafting avant-garde chainmail garments and accessories. With refined skills honed over years and intricate designs built through months of trial and error, she/they transforms hundreds to thousands of tiny metal tori into orchid blooms, mother daughterly bonds, stardusts, bows, and other geometries of life that embody narratives of soft strength, resilience and love. Meticulously crafted through the labor-intensive art of handweaving, each piece by Toroid is an armor that empowers the wearer with the resilience and love infused into it - qualities that drive Daon’s craftmanship.
Every Toroid piece is meant to last a lifetime. Daon's choice of material, craft, and designs were all made with longevity as one of the priorities. She/they hopes to engage Toroid's audience in de-normalizing the unsustainable culture and systems in fashion perpetuated by oppressive socio-economical mechanisms, and take part in practicing a more realistic, sustainable, love-based approach to wearing jewelry.
